This Japanese barberry has an upright, columnar form and features red-purple foliage. Tiny yellow flowers bloom in spring and are replaced by glossy, bright red berries that persist well into winter. This is a great selection for structure and color in the landscape, especially effective in a perennial planting. A great contrast plant with its deep purple leaves, it has many small thorns that keeps deer at bay! Prefers well-drained soil and full sun for best foliage color.
